riverspot

i love to stumble into the daylight grass, beneath me feet, but obvious so let's make it spread through my fingers too. grab the earth and pull it up to you, not quiet so hard that you pull it out, put that you feel the blades really in your hand. slither through it with some force and look around. nature, what a pleasant force, everywhere, naturally occurring and able to be digested with a beautiful gaze. i'd like to turn to the other elements as well, as they too are also everywhere. hydration in the air, the smooth feel of river water dripping down your hands, piercingly cold to put your feet into, yet also pleasantly numbing. a quick off-pathway that not too many people stumble upon leads to something new, an area, perhaps a new adventure, maybe something relaxing, maybe something daring, just waiting down a made-possible new path.. oh maybe there's a surprise just waiting for some one so it could be found. oh, nope, just a dead-end. well, better get back! let's walk back into the direction we were walking, northward. northwards into this new trail that's in this new forest that we have not yet discovered. small rocks all along the riverside and all the trees are strong and rigid, grasping onto the rocks themselves keeping them in place with the soil, slowly receding into the riverbank itself. if you stumble just down a little bit and reach the wider part of the river you can clearly see little bugs and insects floating atop the riverbank, moving in all sorts of varieties of patterns. life, everywhere, floating in the river and it is so ever-present. i'm not sure why, but i find inspiration in just life itself and sometimes find myself just gazing at water, one of the great elements. i really could just sit and watch the moving partitions of hydrogen and oxygen moving. trying to get somewhere, trying to do something, always moving, always a plan, never wanting to sit still...trying to go somewhere. i've always wondered where water might be going, why it is going where it is, always, a natural force. anyway, it's time for us to also get going so let's get back on the trail that we were on. it's a little bit of a jumble back up the rocks to get to the trail, so how about we just head down the river, alongside the water and take a real good look at nature itself, that sounds good. i'll take my steps a little carefully but also not so careful, i like to play around and hop, maybe skip on the some bigger rocks and try to practice my balancing. i've always liked walking on rocks with my bare feet but i don't think i'm capable of doing that right now. i'm way better with my bare feet now but in the past i could barely handle the pain and endurance needed to handle walking on the rocks. i'd really like to build up to the though, grass is easy but rocks are a little harder. i think i see a little island down the river, looks like the water splits off and goes around this little hill that's in the middle of the river. the water isn't too deep but right now it's winter time and the flow of water is slow yet very icy cold. i would say maybe five or six inches deep at the deepest part, but there are rocks to be able to hop to that are barely sticking out of the top of the water. looks like if i try to jump this river to get to this island, i might just end up getting wet. it's not too cold because i've been moving for couple of hours now, but if i get wet then...ah you know what, it's only the bottom part of my body, i'm sure it won't be that bad. i probably won't dry off easy, but let's see if i can make this. i edge myself to the very end of the river, right at the end of the rocks where i can try to make a calculated pathway for me to skip and hop. there's a couple of parts where i can see i might slip and possibly let the foot drop into the water, but i'm more worried about stumbling while that happens and i just lop into the water from losing my traction. then i'd be totally soaked and that would completely suck. let's see if this is the best path.. i'm looking around.. i do see another way it's not too different, but let's give it a try. ok, here we go! a hop and a skip, oh fuck! my leg slipped but i quickly yank it out and keep going, i splash water everywhere because that was not very graceful and just a couple of more steps. alright, i made it! that was awesome but holy crap, am i wet. well at least it's just the bottom part of body, the river isn't rising, it's only getting lower. i turn around the see my pathway back, but this time i'll make the cross a little bit better than how i made it to this side in the first place. maybe grabbing a stick would help to keep my traction. alright now that we are here, let's take a look around. doesn't look like any one has been here before, not that there would be a sign, this little island probably gets flooded in the spring-time. well, you know i think i might take this opportunity, because this is a great site, to meditate and go back to where i was before. i find a little spot i can sit on. take my meditative blanket out, lay it down and sit on it. close my eyes...
